Tacoma Unite

Tacoma is located along Puget Sound in Pierce County, Washington. Tacoma is a major port city because of its location on a deep water harbor, Commencement Bay. According to Washington Public Ports Association, "Washington ports handle 7 percent of U.S. exports and 6 percent of all imports. The Port of Seattle and Port of Tacoma combined are the third largest container complex in North America, after Los Angeles/Long Beach." Located 32 miles southwest of Seattle, Tacoma's population is approximately 200,000. It is known as the "City of Destiny" because the area was chosen to be the western terminus of the Northern Pacific Railroad in the late 19th century.
Tacoma is home to great educational institutions including University of Puget Sound and the University of Washington, Tacoma. In addition, Tacoma Link is the first modern electric light rail service in the state. Tacoma is home to the state's highest density of art and history museums including Museum of Glass, Tacoma Art Museum, LeMay Museum (automobile) and a restored urban waterfront. Local native Dale Chihuly's iconic installations grace downtown walkways near the historic Union Station and the museum district.
Tacoma-Pierce County has been named one of the most livable areas in the country.
